1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using DuetStudio, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the service.
2. Description of Service
DuetStudio is a studio management platform for private music teachers. It provides tools for scheduling lessons, managing lesson notes, tracking student practice, managing assignments, invoicing, and a student portal. The core platform is free with unlimited students. The paid plan, Pro, and its optional full-access seats add features such as automatic invoicing, card payments with no DuetStudio fee, and multi-teacher studio management. 3. Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Ensuring that student and parent information you enter is accurate and collected with appropriate consent
- Complying with applicable laws regarding the collection and use of student data
4. Billing & Subscriptions
The core platform is free with unlimited students. The paid plan, Pro, and its optional full-access seats add features such as automatic invoicing, music library storage, and multi-teacher studio management, and are billed as recurring subscriptions through Stripe. You will never be charged without explicitly opting into a paid plan, and you can cancel at any time from Settings; access continues until the end of your current billing period. Online card payments are available on every plan. On the Free plan, DuetStudio charges a fee of 1% of each card payment a family makes through Stripe, in addition to Stripe's standard processing fee, collected by Stripe at the time of payment. On a paid plan, DuetStudio charges no fee on card payments. Payments families send you directly (for example by Venmo, Zelle, Cash App or PayPal) carry no DuetStudio fee on any plan.
5. Data & Privacy
Your privacy matters to us. We collect only the data necessary to provide the service. Please see our Privacy Policy for full details on what we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.
6. Studio Policies & Electronic Signatures
Teachers on a paid plan can publish studio policies and ask students or their families to agree to them online. The teacher writes or uploads those policies and is solely responsible for their content, for whether they suit the teacher's situation, and for how they are applied.
DuetStudio provides the tool for presenting policies and recording agreement. We are not a party to any agreement between a teacher and a student or family, we do not give legal advice, and we make no representation that an agreement recorded through DuetStudio is enforceable in any particular place. Teachers should have their policies reviewed if they need that assurance.
When someone agrees, we record what they agreed to and how (see the Privacy Policy) and send a copy to them and to the teacher. Signature records cannot be edited or deleted by the teacher. They are kept for as long as the teacher's account exists and are deleted with it.
7. Acceptable Use
You may not use DuetStudio for any unlawful purpose, to harass or harm others, or to transmit any content that violates applicable laws. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
8. Limitation of Liability
DuetStudio is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
