Practice assignments
An assignment tells a student what to practice and by when. Students with a portal see it there and can mark it done or log practice against it. For a student without a portal, you email it to the family. Your assignment templates save retyping, and the Practice tab shows each student's last 28 days of practice. All of this is on every plan.
Steps
- Open Assignments and choose Create assignment. On a lesson's page you can also choose Assign practice.
- Give it a title, pick the student and choose a due date. Add instructions in the description if you like, and adjust the difficulty and estimated minutes.
- To reuse wording, choose Use a template above the description. It adds to what you have written rather than replacing it, and only sets a due date if you have not chosen one. Save as template keeps the description for next time.
- Choose Create assignment. A student with a portal sees it there straight away.
- For a student without a portal, open the assignment and choose Send via Email. For a student who is not an adult, it goes to the parent or guardian email when there is one.
- In the portal, the student chooses Mark complete, or logs time on the Practice page with Save practice, ticking I finished this assignment when they are done.
- To see how practice is going, open the Practice tab on Assignments: the past 28 days for each student, with sessions, minutes, streak and the last day they practiced.
Good to know
- Your templates are in Settings, under Templates. Choose Manage beside Assignment templates to add one with its own due date, or to delete one.
- Not Sent lists assignments a student cannot see yet, because they have no portal and nothing was emailed. The tab only appears when it has something in it.
- You get an email when a student logs practice or finishes an assignment. Turn either off in Settings, under Notifications: Practice logged and Assignment completed.
