Lesson notes, attendance and recaps

Each lesson has a recap for the student and family, and private notes for yourself, which never reach them. You mark attendance and give practice on the same page. Nothing you write reaches the family until you choose **Send recap**, where you pick email, their portal, or both, and see the email before it goes.

Steps

  1. Open the lesson from Lessons.
  2. Under Attendance, choose Attended or Missed. Not recorded clears it again.
  3. Write what you worked on in Lesson recap, and anything just for you in Private notes. Both save as you type.
  4. Templates adds a saved note to the end of your recap, and never replaces it. Save as template keeps the recap for next time.
  5. To give practice, choose Assign practice under Practice for next week.
  6. Choose Send recap. Tick Email to send it to the family (the parent or guardian for a student who is not an adult) and the portal option to show it in their portal, with a notification. Check the preview, then choose Send recap.

Good to know

  • The first time you send a recap for a student, nothing is ticked. After that, your last choice for that student is ticked for you.
  • Edited the recap after sending it? The page says so, and Send again sends the new version.
  • A note you add when you schedule a lesson starts that lesson's recap. The family only sees it once you send the recap.
  • Behind on attendance? The Needs Review tab on Lessons lists past lessons with no attendance yet, so you can mark them in one place.
  • The last lesson's recap, and whether its practice got done, are on the right of the page.
  • Your note templates are in Settings, under Templates, in Lesson note templates.
